Rallyverse Roundup: ‘Anonymous’ Facebook Logins, Trash Your Content Calendar, Star Wars Art

In today’s Roundup, we’re reading up on Facebook’s announcements from F8 yesterday, including their “anonymous” login option for apps, reminding you that social selling can help you get your reach back, absorbing some tough love on the value of content calendars, and checking out the definitive source of ridiculous Star Wars art on the Internet, which is kind of a tall order.

Say what you like about Mark Zuckerberg, the guy is nothing if not self-aware. He knows that one of the biggest problems Facebook faces, now and in the future, is the widespread perception that it’s vacuuming up all sorts of personal information about you At the same time, he knows that Facebook’s revenue stream depends almost entirely on targeted advertising, which in turn depends on well, vacuuming up all sorts of personal information about you. What we have here is an image problem. Time was when Zuckerberg simply told us to grow up, that there was no longer a ” social norm ” around privacy amongst his users. Let’s start with it’s not quite anonymous, but still: offering developers and (their users) the option to log in to an app or experience without agreeing to have all of their actions and information absorbed by that app or experience (and vice versa) feels like a step in the right direction for everyone involved. Especially Facebook.

I appreciate the thought here and the solid quote (“You probably don’t want to totally trash the content calendar, but rethink your resources”), but it’s tough for the “answer” to content marketing success to be “make more amazing content.” We need a name for recommendations like this. May we suggest “Start a unicorn farm”?
