30/ 60/ 10: The Golden Ratio for Social Media Marketing UPDATED

By , on February 12, 2016 at 6:00 am

We first published 30/ 60/ 10: The Golden Ratio for Social Media Marketing over 2 years ago.  It was based on data from our customers on how they were using social and content marketing.  And our customer came from a wide swath of industries and targeting B2B and B2C customers.  It has been one of our more popular research findings.

So we went back and looked at the data to see if things are really still the same – you know the world of social and content marketing has changed a ton in the last 2 years.  Low and behold, the Golden Ratio is still GOLDEN!

So let’s review this Golden Ratio.  In planning your social and content marketing strategy, what’s the right mix of first-party and third-party content? How often should you post purely promotional messages?

While plenty of people will tell you that it “depends,” we’re willing to commit to a specific ratio: 30/ 60/ 10. It’s how we run our social media and content marketing, and we think it’s a good way for you to run yours as well.

So please dive deep into our Slideshare and review all 33 slides we have on the Golden Ratio:

We have lots of interesting research on how our customers use content marketing, you can find them all on our slideshare.
